Synopsis:

The protagonist of the Play, Ashokan, is as an artist with a bothered emotional life. He is extremely sensitive to his surroundings and always in conflict with it. From the small hospital room in which he has been arrested, he struggles to find sense in his life. Real and unreal characters - past, present and future –all inclusive and yet only partial.


Directors Note:

I worked on my personal worries and feelings. I tried to look back, through which my generation is being brought up, say theatre, film, football, nationalism, imperialism, power, Politics and literature and to share some memories which may be scattered. Some confusion, an impact of present scenario led me to Jalaghatikaram. Through this play I try to invite the audience to fill up my uncertainties with theirs and to create an atmosphere of performing concepts. I think this Situation is not very alarming but it is going to be worse than ever...

The Group: Collective Signs

The Collective Signs is a newly formed organization for the promotion of Theatre, Art, Film and literature. The Group conducts a festival in each year called “Collective Fest” which includes Theatre, Films and documentaries and painting. The last year’s festival includes the plays: Sakharam Binder, Paalangal and Sidhartha performed by Abhinaya theatre research centre, Thiruvananthapuram, Documenters: Video Game, Hawa Mahal and The Flowering Tree by Vipin Vijay and the exhibition of paintings By Sacheendran Karadukka, Vinod Ambalathara. This year the repertory presented its first Play “Jalaghatikaram” (The water clock).
